LOCAL
A sense of belonging is fundamental to a growing community. We are so grateful to host 42 Degrees in the Lake District and are keen to celebrate artists and organisations based around this beautiful setting. Showcasing these artists also adds a unique insight into growing up/living in these areas. So to develop our community further, we are passionate that 42 Degrees inspires future generations of artists. We believe highlighting personal experiences from up-and-coming local artists is paramount to this.
How we aim to work towards this in 2022:
- Committing to a minimum of 15% of artists being based in/ from Cumbria
- Our Arts Engagement Officer widening the range of local organisations we are collaborating with. Through these connections, we aim to maintain an open communication with the local community, ensure festival performance slots are allocated to these individuals and run talks and workshops by these organisations
- Offering free tickets to people living in close proximity to the festival site
- Ensuring all our suppliers including food, drink, production and lighting are based locally
- Running promotional nights in cities surrounding the Lake District, where local artists who will also feature at the festival are showcased
How we aim to work towards this, looking to the future:
- Establishing long-term partnerships with local organisations that involve mentoring people keen to work within the arts and event planning
- Developing a resource bank for people based locally who are keen to enter the arts, addressing specific hurdles and how they can be overcome
- Recruiting committee members based locally, who have experience of local art scenes
